Learn How To Be Alone
This generation is obsessed with love.
Or maybe not love. Maybe just the feeling of being wanted.
Everyone wants to talk to someone. Be chosen by someone. Be in a relationship. It almost feels like people are embarrassed to be alone now.
But I think a lot of people do not even want love. They want a distraction from themselves.
They do not know how to sit in silence. They do not know how to be alone with their own thoughts. So they run to other people and call it love.
But how can you love someone else when you do not even love yourself?
The person who has been with you every second of your life gets the least love from you. And somehow you expect to give real love to someone else.
That does not make sense to me.
Maya Angelou said:
“Be careful when a naked person offers you his shirt.”
A person cannot give what they do not have.
If you have no love for yourself, what exactly are you giving to another person? If you have no peace within yourself, how are you supposed to bring peace into a relationship?
A lot of relationships are not built on love. They are built on attention, skinship, and fear of being alone.
That is why they feel so empty.
People confuse being wanted with being loved. They confuse physical closeness with connection. They think having someone next to them means they are no longer lonely.
But you can be in a relationship and still feel alone.
Being alone is not the problem. The problem is not knowing who you are when nobody is there to distract you.
I think everyone should learn how to be alone before they start looking for love.
Not because love is bad, but because you should know yourself first.
You should know what you want, what you accept, and what you refuse to keep carrying.
You cannot expect someone else to become the reason you feel whole.
That is too much responsibility to put on another person.
Love should add to your life. It should not be the only thing holding it together.
So learn how to be alone.
Learn how to sit with yourself without running to someone else.
Because if you do not love yourself first, you will keep looking for yourself in other people.

Just came from tik tok and all I can say is wow
I actually just walked away from a 4 year relationship for that exact reason to finally find out who I am without depending on someone else to fill the silence. It’s uncomfortable, but necessary
